Summer League Roundup: Keith Benson continues to impress, Eli Holman sees first action
July 17, 2012 in Professional
Yesterday, I wrote five posts updating how players from Michigan are faring in this week’s Summer League. In the interest of lightening my workload, I think I’ll just condense those into a daily roundup post updating the performances, and I’ll start today’s with former Oakland star Keith Benson. Benson, who is starting for the Hawks this summer, had another impressive game last night, finishing with 10 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks in a loss to Boston. Benson didn’t shoot that well (2-for-9), but he got to the free throw line eight times, held his own against Boston’s first round pick Fab Melo and is averaging 16.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting nearly 60 percent from the field.
Jason Walker of Peachtree Hoops/SB Nation thinks Benson has, at a minimum, :
Definitely earned camp invite RT @: @ Early impressions on what looks to be an offensively revived Keith Benson?

Connor Huchton of Hardwood Paroxysm has
Keith Benson giving another strong performance for the Hawks. Could see him ending up on an NBA roster this season.

Other Summer League performances from last night: Eli Holman saw his first (brief) action for Houston, playing a couple minutes in a blowout win over the Kings and Darius Morris struggled, shooting 4-for-17 as the Lakers were blown out by the Heat.
