LaMarcus Lowe, a Flint Northwestern graduate who was part of last season’s NCAA Tournament team the University of Detroit, has signed with Rotterdam in Holland, coach Ray McCallum confirmed when I interviewed him this weekend.

Lowe, a lanky, 6-foot-11 shot-blocking machine, paired with Eli Holman to give the Titans a steller defensive frontcourt last season. Holman signed to play in Israel this season.

Lowe averaged 6.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in just 22 minutes per game last season. He also improved his free throw shooting from 56 percent as a junior to 72 percent as a senior. Lowe’s length and athleticism will help him become a rim-protecting presence professionally. He’ll need to continue to add bulk to his slim frame to handle some of the more filled out bigs he’ll face in Europe.
