Four players with Michigan ties have been selected in Friday’s 2012 NBA D-League Draft.
Brandon Bowdry of Eastern Michigan was picked with the fifth pick in the third round by the Erie Bayhawks. Bowdry was one of the toughest players in the MAC while at Eastern. He has also played professionally in Latvia and Turkey.
Former Detroit Mercy center LaMarcus Lowe was also taken by Erie. They used the 12th pick in the third round on Lowe, a lanky shot-blocker and defensive force while at U of D. Lowe had signed with Rotterdam in the Dutch League, but he’s no longer on their roster.
Glen Rice Jr., a former Georgia Tech player and the son of former Michigan Mr. Basketball Glen Rice, was picked seventh in the fourth round by the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Former Michigan State star Durrell Summers was picked with the 13th pick in the fourth round by the Santa Cruz Warriors. Summers played in the D-League last season, averaging 10.8 points and 3.2 rebounds per game for the Maine Red Claws.
